Selma

I just found a perfect acting gig for my brother Jake.

It looks like Lee Daniels has been thinking about making a new movie about Martin Luther King and the Selma march (though I guess it’s on hold now for want of funding).

My dad at the Selma March

See that tall skinny white guy in the middle? The one who’s snatching up that poor innocent black girl? I figure Jake could play him — — since he’s his son.

Yes, unlike Romney, my father actually did march with MLK.

(Well, he was officially there as medical support; he was a fire fighter. And he’s not abducting the girl; he’s getting her back in line so the local law enforcement don’t get an excuse to break up the march.)

Of course, this was before my time (although, as this picture attests, my older sister was born not long after).

My personal connection to MLK is merely the fact that my current office used to be his dorm room when he was at Boston University.
